Reay is the trail’s wild northern finale: a traditional links beside Sandside Bay where the Pentland Firth, Atlantic weather and open horizons shape the experience. It is remote in the best possible sense — a place where the journey feels as important as the scorecard.
Braid visited Reay in 1933 and advised on its expansion to 18 holes, helping shape a course that remains closely tied to its natural setting. The exposed site encourages the classic links toolkit: flighted shots, imagination around the greens and acceptance of the wind.
