Grantown-on-Spey

Pine-framed golf in the Cairngorms. A distinctive chapter in the James Braid Highland Golf Trail.

01
The course

A different side of Highland golf.

Set in the Cairngorms National Park, Grantown-on-Spey is a scenic Highland course where mature woodland, open ground and mountain air give the round a distinctly Speyside character. The original layout is associated with Willie Park, with James Braid later contributing to its development.

Grantown is a useful stop on the trail because it shows Braid as an adviser and improver rather than simply a blank-sheet architect. His influence sits within an older golfing landscape, adding another layer to the club’s long history.
